This is what a professionally written and properly formatted resume looks like. This is a general pattern that applies to all occupations. If you don’t know how to write a simple resume, the above document will be a great inspiration.

1. How to write a resume that will offer you a job?

All recruiters have the same requirements for a resume — the document is in response to a job offer. Therefore, your application must be complete and important information must be arranged in the appropriate sections.

A good resume should consist of the following parts:

  1. personal and contact details – Placed in headers: name, phone number, email address, and job title.
  2. Professional Profile – A short description of the candidate profile. It should be at the top of your resume.
  3. experience – Must include company name and job title, hours worked, and duties and achievements performed.
  4. Skill – It is worth dividing the skills list into soft skills and hard skills, entering specialized skills that are of interest to employers.
  5. educate – In this section, focus primarily on education related to the requirements of the position or job opportunity you are interested in.
  6. Courses, Training and Certificates – Show employers that you are undergoing ongoing training and that you have the qualifications required for a particular occupation.
  7. Interested in – This element is not mandatory in a resume, but it may work in your favor. Fun hobbies say a lot about a candidate.
  8. Resume Clause — That is, consent to the processing of personal data, which is a mandatory element of a Polish CV.

You can also add a photo to your resume. This is not mandatory. However, keep in mind that photography has to be professional. If you don’t have one, don’t take the risk, as adding random or inappropriate photos will only discourage recruiters.

The above-mentioned sections (except for the data protection clause) are a common element of every CV and CV. No matter where in the world you are applying for a job, points 1 to 7 must be included in your document.

Now, I will guide you through the resume writing process step by step.

2. Write a resume – how to write it?

moment. Before filling a blank document with content, choose the right strategy. Thanks to this, you won’t have to endlessly modify your documents. Time is money, money doesn’t stink, you have to smell success. That’s why-

Plan your resume writing as follows:

1. Select the appropriate resume type.

Choose a resume type based on what you want to emphasize and how you present yourself. you can choose:

Chronological Resume – A standard document well known to recruiters. It might not be a creative format, but it’s safe.

Functional Resume – Differentiate key skills from an employer’s perspective. Great resume format for the less experienced. You write more about what you know and your abilities than where you have worked so far.

Hybrid Resume – A format that combines both of the above resumes. You have the opportunity to present yourself in the most favorable way possible, highlighting what you consider to be your greatest strengths on your resume.

2. Read the job offer carefully.

Everything is written there! Most job advertisements list exact requirements for candidates, including specific skills, experience and knowledge of foreign languages. You have to include the information recruiters expect in your resume, so read the job offer carefully and use the same phrases in your resume – as long as you’re really competent, of course (there will always be lies in your resume).

3. Prepare a suitable photo.

If you’re going to put a photo on your resume (you don’t have to if you don’t want to), make sure it’s professional. Blurred photos and photos that you look too private will be eliminated.

Now, I’ll show you how to properly write each section of your resume.

3. How do I complete all sections of my resume?

We start at the very top of the document. The last part of the resume described here should be at the bottom.

Personal/Contact – Keep it short and to the point

At the very top of your resume, in the title, add some basic information about yourself. You can also center this part of the document. It’s important that your name and title are immediately visible, so it’s worth writing it in a larger font

What to put in the title of your resume?

In the CV title, add:

  • first and last name
  • position Name
  • email address
  • phone number
  • Link to your LinkedIn profile (if available)

As for your home address, you can safely skip it. Today, no one will send you a job offer by mail. And forget to put your marital status on your resume. This is a thing of the past and completely redundant information.

Professional Profile

A professional summary (professional objective) is a short description of a candidate’s profile. 3-4 sentences are enough. Only 62% of applicants add this section to their resume, which means you can get a better document than your competitors in the job hunt.

When writing a career summary, follow this pattern:

  1. Write down who you are (eg “I am a sales manager with over 10 years of experience in the IT industry.”)
  2. List 2-3 professional achievements or important skills (eg “I got over 900 clients in 10 months.”)
  3. Write down where you would like to develop professionally (eg, “I’m looking for a professional challenge to manage a sales team in the IT industry.”)

work experience on resume

Your previous jobs – this is what’s in the “Experience” section of your resume. At the top of the company list should be the company you worked for most recently. Then describe your work experience one by one. Let me give you an example.

Here’s how to describe your experience on your resume:

10.2018 – current company Accounting Plus

Position: Chief Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive accounting in accordance with applicable regulations, organize and supervise the proper circulation of accounting documents
  • Organizations that optimize and improve accounting processes
  • Preparation of financial statements and monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Supervise the correctness of tax settlements and be responsible for the preparation of tax returns
  • Liaise with external agencies and write reports

Achievement:

  • I prepared an annual accounting and HR report and reduced department costs by 25%

As you can see, just entering the date and company name is not enough. In this section of your resume, it is necessary to list the position you held at a given company and add a list of responsibilities. Employers want to know what exactly you did in your previous job.

It’s also worth adding selected professional achievements to your resume. They don’t have to be any specific fireworks. For example, if you manage to organize your office work, improve your store’s operations, acquire new customers or improve the decor of your optical shop – great!

Everything you can be proud of is important, although recruiters are most interested in your career success, and this can be expressed in numbers—profits or the new clients you bring to the company.

Skills on a Resume

The skills section of your resume is very important. If you look at job offers (the first step in writing a resume), you’ll definitely notice that it lists the competencies that employers expect from candidates.

application? You need to put your skills list prominently on your resume. Don’t get motivated into: creativity, on time, computer skills. First, check to see if these skills are required for the position you are applying for.

To make your resume look polished and clear, divide your competency list into soft skills and hard skills. The former are the functions a candidate needs for a given job, and the latter are technical skills such as:

  • programming language knowledge
  • Proficient in SEO principles
  • good knowledge…
